SCDSB’s Pathways to Success is part of the province-wide
Student Success Initiative. This program is designed to ensure the
success of all students in Grades 7 to 12. Through customized curriculum,
individual support and work placements in the community, this program
values the dreams of all students and focuses on equal opportunities
for success. The Pathways to Success Program has four pillars:
Literacy
Literacy skills are at the heart of learning. Students are explicitly
taught a repertoire of reading, writing and oral communication skills.
Mathematical Literacy
The latest thinking and research are applied to the way mathematics
is taught and learned.
Program Pathways
Students have a right to an educational experience that respects
and meets their needs and prepares them for the destination of their
choice.
Community, Culture, Caring
This concentration on “character education” is one of
the main goals of Catholic education. Our emphasis on the building
of community, the study of scriptures, and the exploration of moral
reasoning are all designed to form in the young person a strong
moral character based on gospel values.
