In 2006, the existing St. David School was deemed, "Prohibitive to Repair" and the Sudbury Catholic District School Board conducted an accommodation review in 2009-2010. It was concluded the school should be closed, and a new school constructed within the existing catchment area.  The Ministry of Education approved the construction of the new facility on July 7, 2011.  After this approval was received, a request for proposal for Architectural Services was issued, with Yallowega Belanger Architecture being awarded the contract. Construction documents were issued for tender on May 22, 2014 and the tender closed on June 23, 2014. On June 24th, trustees approved the tender value and construction of the new school . The construction was awarded to Niacon Ltd. Construction is currently ongoing.
