Mobile Media Lab – elementary and secondary Native Language and Native Studies

Our newest laptop project is a mobile media lab complete with 5 MacBook laptops, digital video and still cameras, wireless microphones as well as headsets with a boom microphone for recording.  Students in our Native Language and Native Studies classes will produce a variety of media projects that showcase aboriginal culture will use these kits.

Secondary Laptop Project – 9 cart pilot

A grade 9 student at St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School works with a MacBook in geography class

We have expanded our laptop program into our secondary schools. We currently have nine carts that are being used by teachers across Grades 9 to 12 in a wide variety of subjects that include Math, English, Science, Geography, Accounting, Art, and Drama.  The focus is on inquiry based project learning.  We are planning to expand the project to include more teachers and other classes in a shared model where students would access the laptops for project work on a rotation.
