Nickels for the North - Kids Helping Kids

November 7, 2008 - St. Mary Catholic School participated this year in The Nickels for the North campaign, presented by VALE INCO and the Easter Seals Society. Lisa Lounsbury, District Manager for the Easter Seals Society, visited the school to inform the students that this years’ funds would go towards purchasing a wheelchair.

Easter Seals Ontario is dedicated to helping children, youth and young adults with physical disabilities. A total of 16 schools collected change over a three week period in October. The total amount of money raised was $17, 256.69! St. Mary Catholic School won FOURTH place overall (on a per capita basis) raising an amazing $628.00 for Easter Seals Kids. The grade 5/6 class was awarded a pizza party and has the opportunity to win another great prize! Thanks to all the St. Mary Monarchs for participating in this community event.
