January 30, 2017 - On Friday, January 27, the students from St. Francis School celebrated Literacy Day. Students and staff arrived to school dressed as their favourite story book character to kick off the day. The school’s staff and students celebrated their love of books with its annual book swap organized by the school’s resource teacher, Ms. G. Visentin. Students in every classroom from kindergarten to grade 6 were asked to donate gently used books from their home and trade them in for “new” books. The school’s gathering room had a large selection of book titles on display for students to choose from in both English and French languages. The book swap provided an excellent opportunity for students to exchange books for free within their own school community, encourage reading and recycling.
