Marymount Student Rebecca Mailloux Wins Gold Medal at World Karate Championship

Marymount Student Rebecca Mailloux displays her Gold Medal won at the World Karate Championship

November 22, 2005 - Rebecca Mailloux, a Grade 7 student at Marymount Academy, competed in the World Karate Championship earlier this month and won a gold medal in the 12 and under age category. The competition was held in Niagara Falls, and included over 2,000 competitors representing 34 countries.


Rebecca claimed the gold medal in Team Form, and silver medals in Traditional KATA, and Open Musical KATA. She has also been selected as the Female Athlete of the Week. Rebecca will be attending the Super Grand Karate Championships during the Christmas break. Best of luck and congratulations Rebecca!
